SITA in Saudi Arabia and MENA

SITA is actively involved in the MENA region, driving innovation and enhancing the travel experience through technology and digitalization. In Saudi Arabia, SITA has partnered with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to modernize 26 of the country's largest airports. This transformation includes implementing the AirportConnect Open platform, which allows seamless airline operations and a smooth self-service experience from check-in to boarding. SITA's solutions also encompass advanced baggage management, biometric single-token travel, and real-time airport management systems. These initiatives are designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance passenger experience, and support the growing passenger traffic in Saudi Arabia.

In the UAE, SITA has implemented advanced biometric systems at Dubai International Airport, enabling seamless and contactless passenger journeys. Additionally, SITA’s baggage management solutions are used at Abu Dhabi International Airport to ensure efficient handling and tracking of luggage. SITA’s smart solutions, such as self-service kiosks and passenger flow monitoring tools, are deployed across various airports in the UAE, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the overall passenger experience. In Qatar, SITA has been instrumental in enhancing the country's aviation infrastructure. They have partnered with Qatar Airways to deploy Secure SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) technology, which ensures agile, scalable, and secure access to airline systems and applications. Additionally, SITA's digital border and airport technologies have played a crucial role in managing the high volume of aircraft movements at Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport, especially during major events like the World Cup⁵. SITA launches SmartSea through an initial agreement with Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM), the world-class ship manager and maritime service provider. SmartSea is the industry’s first company with the power to reshape the maritime sector by facilitating access to the same advanced technology that has already transformed the air transport industry. At the same time, CSM becomes the first SmartSea client to exponentially upscale its operations through this cutting-edge technology.
