SITA BagJourney is the only system that builds on SITA’s baggage data delivery services - BagMessage and Type-B - and their global coverage, to provide a precise picture of a bag’s current location, no matter how many airlines or airports handle it.
The system makes that information available, in a structured and easy way to consume, to airlines and airports who need to enhance passenger’s experience and reduce ground handling costs while complying with IATA’s baggage tracking resolution.
Bags are permanently tracked and therefore, in situations where they are mishandled, the service makes it easier to quickly recover and reunite them with their owners.
As the data collection is free of charge, BagJourney can become the core platform of a ready-to-go solution for airlines looking for a cost-effective way of fulfilling the IATA Resolution 753.
The new BagTrac and NetScan options address a key area in baggage tracking. BagTrac automatic tag readers (ATRs) are installed over passenger claim belts and transfer induction belts and record tag numbers as bags pass the ATRs. NetScan provides a manual baggage tracking option via a mobile app running on Android or iOS smartphones, offering quick deployment and a solution where scanning infrastructure is otherwise missing.
This product is available through SITA's ATI Cloud.
