Paul Cross has over 25 years of experience in developing and managing Border Protection systems. He is an expert in the fields of identity management and biometrics.
Paul has been a senior executive in government where he led
development and delivery of major national and international border management capabilities, chairing committees responsible for the related policy, development, and operational functions. He has been a Director on the Board of the Biometrics Institute for over 9 years and is also a member of the Advisory Group, leader of the Institute’s Future Directions Group, and previously leader of the Borders Group.
Paul has a background in capability development, support, strategy and policy. Starting as a developer on the original Advance Passenger Processing system, he has been responsible for border, biometrics and identity capabilities leveraging the major evolutions and upgrades in technology that have occurred over past decades.
Paul leads the SITA Sydney Border Management Practice, where SITA originally started developing border management systems to complement its 75-year history of supporting the Air Transport and Travel Industries. Paul’s current role includes management responsibility for development of SITA’s Advance Passenger Processing solution, and next-generation Electronic Travel Authorisation, mobile and Digital Travel capabilities.
