2016 Air Transport IT Summit

In the 'Smart City' of Barcelona

"We love turning ideas into realities."  So says the website for the 'Smart City' of Barcelona, where in 2016 we'll be staging the Air Transport IT Summit, the renowned platform for CEOs and CIOs to address the air transport IT community.

Hosted by SITA in partnership with Airline Business, the Air Transport Summit remains the top IT event in the air transport industry’s calendar, and the only event solely dedicated to the industry’s technology leaders and the challenges they face.

Time for smart thinking

For the theme and agenda of our 2016 event, we'll be drawing on Barcelona's status as a Smart City and European 'Capital of Innovation'– bolstered by its image as a place that 'inspires innovation', a hub of creativity and design, and a city bustling with emerging artists, architecture and technological development.

Against this backdrop, we'll be contemplating the need for new, creative thinking, along with more innovation to deliver transformation in the air transport industry. Our speaker line up will consider how we respond to the quickening pace of innovation, how we plan for it, how we turn ideas into realities and whether it's time to rethink and develop a new mindset.

Where we've come from

At the 2015 Air Transport IT Summit, we explored the needs of connected travelers in an increasingly ‘always on’ aviation world. Our fantastic speaker line-up included CEOs, CTOs and VPs from the likes of Star Alliance, Aéroports de Montréal, SITA, Ryanair, United Airlines, IATA and more.

These speakers shared their thought-leadership into how the air transport industry needs to prepare for the increasingly sophisticated (and demanding) connected traveler by looking beyond the horizon with breakthroughs in connected air travel, delving into the journey towards being more ‘joined up’, exploring what connected air travels means for airports and airlines and looking into ways that will deliver an ‘always on’ travel experience for all.
