Insights from our air transport industry sponsors

Stage 1

  • Robotic Process Automation & Artificial Intelligence
Eric Stioui, Solution Specialist Director, Orange Business Services
Big data, analytics and AI is changing the IT game. Orange has taken advantage of those new technologies as overlay and transversal processes for the legacy IT applications. The benefits are material, as data consistency has improved whereas tedious manual work to correct errors has dramatically decreased. As a result, business processes run faster and smoother, and customers are better served.

Stage 2

  • Driving down air transport operational costs through intelligent automation
Vijay Iyer, President & Global Head – Travel & Transportation, Hexaware

The current air transport industry continues to grow rapidly but consistent and robust profitability is elusive. To remain competitive, all aviation industry players need to embrace technology advancements to automate their operations while delivering superior end to end personalized stakeholder experience.

With the proliferation of new technologies, all enterprises are in a “hybrid” mode of having to manage a myriad of systems, whilst trying to fulfill the newer business requirements around NDC, software defined networks, baggage services, passenger data, irregular operations (IRROPs), advanced cyber security, etc.

These systems include 40 year old mainframe systems, as well as the latest cloud-enabled next generation applications.  Since, all these new age and legacy systems generate a lot of system data and valuable insights around predictive & preventive maintenance of critical applications – provided they are all analyzed. It is humanly impossible to analyze all of these data, and predict or prevent failures, or configure for superior end-user experience.

The next generation automated IT operations management model is here – and is very real. In today’s competitive environment any business problem eliminated or resolved with speed without compromising the quality of service offering to the end customer, will bring that added advantage to you. The tools required to achieve this include robotic process automation (addressing repetitive procedure based on manual work), anomaly detection (identifying root causes by analyzing millions of log file data), known error database (resolving problems instantly), and an advanced cognitive automation engine.

This session will talk about how aviation industry can leverage this advanced technology to reduce the MTTR, enhance uptime and improvise on customer and end user experience while reducing operations cost by over 40%.

This session consists of two talks running in parallel on separate stages, so delegates can choose to see one talk out of the two at this time. N.B. With limited capacity, seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

18:00 Technology industry partners

Stage 1

Digital customer experience: transforming the aviation industry
Rafi Katanasho, APAC CTO & VP of Solution Sales, Dynatrace
The aviation industry is witnessing disruptive growth and expansion. Airlines and airports around the world are rethinking their operating models more than ever before— to deliver delightful customer experiences from booking, to check-in, on the flight and beyond.

Find out how Dynatrace has redefined monitoring by providing customer experience and application performance insight for business-critical applications like self-boarding, wayfinding and digitalizing of passenger name lists, passenger bag load status and connecting flight information. See us to discuss transforming aviation experiences for every user, every app, everywhere.

Stage 2

Developing the next generation of global connectivity
Kevin Shortt, Business Development & Systems Engineer, ViaLight Communications GmbH
Michael Warren, CEO, Airborne Wireless Networks Inc
In this age of industry 4.0, wireless laser communications technology stands to transform air travel by bringing backbone network connectivity to a passenger at any point along their journey – whether sitting at the gate or flying at 40,000 ft. The concept of a mesh network of interconnected aircraft as proposed by Airborne Wireless Network Inc. will be a major leap in the digitization of the air transport industry. Central to creating such expansive networks through commercial aviation infrastructure is ViaLight Communications' world leading wireless laser communication technology.

With high speed data links running up to 10 Gbps, an aircraft can transfer hundreds of gigabytes while simply sitting at the gate – downloading everything from passenger-specific media content to the most up to date high fidelity weather information for the crew. What’s more, ViaLight’s laser communications terminals enables networks of interconnected aircraft throughout the world using the same basic principles we are all familiar with in today’s urban networks, creating a vast information highway and transforming a passenger’s inflight experience. Passengers can stream video and surf the internet just as they would at home. Airline maintenance teams can benefit from the gigabytes of aircraft performance data streamed to them long before an aircraft rolls up to the gate, thus improving responsiveness and turnaround times. Search and rescue efforts will forever be transformed simply by monitoring the status of the network and responding to unexpected network disconnects. The network service provided by Airborne Wireless Network Inc. will not only transform air travel but will fundamentally improve the way stakeholders in the aviation eco-system collaborate.

Stage 1

Bridging the personalization gap
Adnan Saulat, General Manager & Travel Industry Specialist, Mindtree
There is a lot of talk about personalizing the message and offers to your customers but sadly the research shows that companies are not even identifying the customer correctly, instead using multiple marketing tools to bombard the customer with competing offers across channels. In this session, we see how big data & AI/machine learning can be applied for identification, omni-channel targeting and servicing the next generation of customers with personalization use cases across all passenger touchpoints using recommendation engines and intelligent travel assistants like chatbots and AI powered voice services.

Stage 2
