SITA Bag Fast | SITA

SITA Bag Fast is a simple piece of software that does just one thing: prints IATA-compliant fallback tags as and when they are needed.

It allows the continued use of the automated baggage handling system while eliminating the costs of storing pre-printed tags. CUTE-certified, it has a simple and easy-to-learn user interface and is compliant with IATA Recommended Practice 1740b.

No other application on the CUTE workstation does this: that’s why major airports and airlines around the world rely on SITA Bag Fast.

How it helps

As automated baggage handling systems become more widely used, the consequences of their failure become apparent. When checked baggage can’t be sorted and directed to the flight loading point, the bags are “dumped” to await manual intervention. As many airports no longer have the staff to cope with this type of scenario, check-in operations can grind to a halt. Passengers are delayed, and with no-one available to transport the bags to the airplane, luggage may be lost or misplaced.

If a fallback or backup tag is needed, the user starts the SITA Bag Fast application on their CUTE workstation. Using a simple interface, they tell it how many tags are needed, for which carrier, and at which loading area.
