Automate processes and increase productivity?

With over 50% of the world's airport ground handling operations outsourced by airlines, ground handlers play a critical role in an airline’s operation.

Ground handlers need to be able to process passengers, manage load planning, deal with disruption, and send operational messages to multiple systems. Because they often serve several airlines at a time, this also means either learning all of the airline check-in systems, or using one interface to access them all.

How we can help

Did you know?

Airports account for only

15%

of the ground handling market (ACI Europe).

SITA’s suite of passenger services for ground handlers covers check-in, load planning, boarding and final bag claim. SITA’s global network ensures clients have access to the information they need when they need it. We help ground handlers optimize operations and deliver top-notch customer service, ensuring a positive reflection of an airline’s brand value.

We do this with:

  • A resource management solution designed to link people, equipment and back-office systems to improve planning, efficiency, staff management and customer service; this includes notifications for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM).
  • Automated, integrated departure control systems for efficient check-in, boarding and load control
  • Intuitive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that enable agents to handle multiple airlines in their DCS host system so they only need to learn one GUI
  • A suite of GUIs to report mishandled bags through kiosks and the Internet to help manage disruption
  • Next generation weight and balance for any aircraft type with a cost manager option that shows the ideal trim to save fuel
  • Operational mail interfaces for the distribution of business critical Type B and Type X messages that allow ground-handling operators to pay only for services used at a predictable monthly cost
  • IP connectivity on shared devices at sites where large bandwidth is not continuously required to reduce monthly costs compared to dedicated connections

SITA facts and figures

  • 162 million passengers checked in using SITA Departure Control Services in 2013
  • PassengerHandler, our common language interface, boards 12 million passengers a year
  • Over 160 ground handlers are customers of WorldTracer
