Horizon® Weight & Balance | SITA

Fuel costs account for more than 27% of an airline’s operating expenses. And with net profits totaling just 4.6% of revenues, even a small decrease in fuel consumption can have a big impact on the bottom line.

Horizon® Weight and Balance increases fuel savings by providing full load planning capabilities, including a graphical user interface (GUI) framework, for all the functionalities required to load and dispatch an aircraft, plus all legally required documentation for both airlines and ground handlers.

It seamlessly combines aircraft and flight technical data with variable information on payload, allowing an aircraft’s weight and center of gravity to change with fuel consumption. With its close integration with check-in systems, Horizon Weight and Balance enables aircraft to fly more efficiently and cost-effectively than ever before – without compromising safety.

Horizon Weight and Balance supports all IATA standards, following recommended practices that govern the acceptance of operational data by load control systems to provide automated and optimized load distribution for any aircraft type.

How it helps

Horizon® Weight and Balance utilizes a combination of aircraft technical data, messaging and information on passengers, baggage, fuel and cargo to define and optimize the operating parameters for each flight.

Key features

  • Full GUI functionality
  • Business rule automation
  • Online help screens
  • Service-oriented architecture (SOA) on open systems platform
  • Ideal Trim Line shows load control agents the optimum trim required to save fuel

  • Lowered fuel costs
  • Higher safety – warning messages and refusal to print load-sheet if aircraft is out of trim
  • Increased agent productivity – rapid dispatch of flights minimizes flight delays
  • Reduced training time
  • Better reporting – backed by business intelligence

Why us?

Only Horizon® Weight and Balance provides full load-planning and utilizes GUIs for all inputs and functionality. Centralized load control enables load planning of multiple flights and points of departure from a central or remote location. This allows load control agents to manage multiple airlines, flights, and departure airports simultaneously.

Automatic flight event warnings ensure load controllers complete all necessary inputs and transactions before flight dispatch.

Horizon Weight and Balance’s drag-and-drop functionality optimizes dead-load management. It allows for user-defined business rules for operational requirements.

Training is available for this product through SITA University.
