The Horizon Integration Platform connects legacy systems, such as central reservation and global distribution systems, with new applications. It also incorporates older systems with new hardware like web servers and links front-end applications and user interfaces.

Designed specifically for travel organizations,the Integration Platform helps airlines, travel agencies and other travel-oriented operations implement business change initiatives. It can act as middleware in many travel system environments.

How it helps

There are three types of scenarios for Horizon Integration Platform, and you can use one or all of them.

  1. By deploying the Integration Platform to expose legacy functionality through service oriented architecture (SOA) Web Services, your enterprise can maximize the benefits of existing legacy infrastructure and the advantages of open systems, while minimizing the effort to connect the two (see diagram).
  2. Horizon Integration Platform also allows legacy applications to call out to SOA Web Services. This can extend the lifetime of existing legacy infrastructure by adding new functionality through Web Services.
  3. Horizon Integration Platform can facilitate the exchange of data between different mainframe systems. The platform bridges different network protocols such as X.25 to MATIP and data formats such as different EDIFACT versions.
