CommunityConnect DCS

IP connectivity for common use at airports

The air transport industry (ATI) is under constant pressure to cut costs and maximize efficiencies. Common use self-service plays a significant role in this evolution and availability of fast WAN connection implementation and affordable IP connectivity are key factors in its success.

SITA CommunityConnect DCS offers reliable, entry-level IP connectivity for common-use terminal equipment (CUTE) and kiosks. It is based on shared devices, eliminating infrastructure investment and significantly reducing monthly costs compared to dedicated connections. Being solely dedicated to airport stakeholders, CommunityConnect DCS provides global availability, is future-proofed, and offers a simple pricing scheme.

Provided over a reliable MPLS network, CommunityConnect DCS connects CUTE or other common-use workstations / kiosks, departure control hosts, and related applications.

*CommunityConnect DCS is the new name for SITA Express IP.

How it helps

IP network connectivity continues to be an important service for the ATI. Many new applications require it to deploy and run the latest technologies. It’s no surprise, then, that virtually every stakeholder is migrating to IP. This is driven by:

  • New IP and browser-based end-user applications
  • Need for new and advanced features cannot be supported by legacy systems
  • Long-term withdrawal of support for legacy systems
  • Rising costs of maintaining legacy systems

Typically, if you have multiple legacy connections in a single location, it is cost-effective to migrate to IP.

Key features

  • Based on SITA Connect infrastructure – ensures network availability
  • Host connection – delivered on a shared-cost basis, provided by SITA and DCS
  • Internet access – option for accessing pre-defined URLs
  • Seasonal connections – option for locations with adequate shared infrastructure

  • Reduced costs
  • Increased capacity
  • Improved passenger processing
  • Enhanced customer service
