Overview

SITA BagFast is a simple piece of software that does one thing and one thing only: prints IATA-compliant fallback tags on-demand.

It allows the continued use of the automated baggage handling system while eliminating the costs of storing pre-printed tags. CUTE-certified, it has a simple and easy-to-learn user interface, and is compliant with IATA Recommended Practice 1740b.

No other application is available on the CUTE workstation to do this.

How it helps

As automated baggage handling systems become more widely used, the consequences of their failure become apparent. If checked baggage can’t be sorted and directed on the conveyor belts to the flight loading point, the bags are “dumped” to await manual intervention, bringing check-in operations to a halt. Many airports no longer have the staff to manually carry bags from the dump area to the flight loading points, so chaos ensues as bags miss their flights.

In the event a fallback or backup tag is needed, with BagFast, the user starts the application on their CUTE workstation and uses a simple interface to tell BagFast how many tags are needed, for which carrier, and at which loading area.
