ATC Messaging Service

Global gateway exchanges flight operations messages with air navigation service providers (ANSPs)

Overview

Following the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and its recommendation to overcome the limitations of the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) and expand beyond for rich data exchange, the ANSPs are moving to the air traffic services (ATS) Messaging Handling System (AMHS).

ATC Messaging Service gateway simplifies and reduces the cost of supporting specific ATC related connections and platforms to adapt to the required ANSP environment. ATC Messaging Service makes all necessary conversions to deliver to either AFTN or AMHS. By using a single connection to ATC Messaging Service, customers can reach the global ANSP’s community.

How it helps

Most customers exchange messages with more than one ANSP and that may require individual AFTN or AMHS connections. SITA’s ATC Messaging Service significantly simplifies the process by removing the complexity and cost of connecting and adapting to several ANSPs.

SITA’s service makes all the necessary conversions and globally adapts to the required ANSP environment. This enables seamless communication with air traffic control (ATC) organizations throughout the flight operations process.  Customers can continue communicating with ANSPs using Type B, SITATEX and Type X, whether they are using AFTN or AMHS.

Features

ATC Messaging Service includes the following features:

  • Community Messaging “connect once, reach all” model
  • Easy access from Type B, SITATEX and Type X, over an IP-based network service
  • Message conversion between various standards to enable seamless information exchange
  • Protocol adaption to promote inter-operability between airlines and ATC organizations
  • Simple and attractive pricing structure
