Airport Self-Service Gates | SITA

Overview

SITA’s Airport Self-Service Gates can be used for many functions, including self-boarding and access control to airline lounges and other facilities. We also provide self-service gates for automated border control.

Equipped with 2D barcode readers, Airport Self-Service Gates accommodate near field communications (NFC) or magstripe technologies, as well as e-passports. They can be integrated with other airport systems to enhance passenger handling.

How it works

Airport Self-Service Gates include sensors, lights, barrier arms, an integrated boarding gate reader (BGR) and a receipt printer.

The 2D barcode reader communicates with the airline system. Upon recognizing a valid boarding pass, the gate opens. Once the passenger passes, the gate automatically closes behind him or her. An alarm sounds to indicate invalid boarding or an abnormal access attempt.

SITA provides a common interface and certifies gate devices from multiple vendors. This gives you choice in design to meet your preferences and capacity needs.

One airline reported boarding 90% of passengers in seven minutes.
