SITA, the world's leading specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions, today celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Command Centre in Montreal. This unique facility proactively monitors and manages mission-critical systems for the industry that transports more than three billion passengers each year.

From its Command Centers in Montreal and Singapore, SITA has real-time visibility of the IT and communications systems in use at airports, in airlines and on aircraft around the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Its team of highly skilled, multi-lingual IT experts proactively monitors and manages the systems in use at more than 1000 airports and 2800 customers, mitigating issues before they arise, or resolving them quickly and efficiently.

Christine St-Pierre, Minister of International Relations and la Francophonie, recognizing SITA’s unique role in the global air transport industry and its contribution to Quebec’s aerospace ecosystem, said: “The SITA Command Centre remains a well-kept secret in Montreal, in spite of the essential work it performs for global air transport. The Quebec government is proud to support the growth and continued presence of this type of business, which is why I am delighted to join in highlighting the Centre’s 5th anniversary. This is a concrete example of how we can attract international companies, and ensure that they stay.”

SITA employs a total of 320 people in Canada; 220 are based in Montreal, and the remainder at its kiosk manufacturing facility in Burlington, and software development center in Vancouver. Quebec Airport, Victoria International Airport and Air Canada, among other Canadian customers, use SITA technologies to deliver a seamless and exceptional end-to-end passenger experience.

Paul Houghton, SITA President, Americas, who hosted the event said: “We are proud to be among the many international companies, along with industry associations IATA and ICAO, which make Montreal a major world aerospace centre, and we look forward to many more years as a core contributor to this vital economy."
