Born in Venice in 1971, he graduated in Transportation Engineering from the University of Padua and earned his Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Management at the ESMT - European School of Management and Technology in Berlin. He has been working in the air transport industry for the last 19 years. From 1997 to 2000 he worked as a Project Engineer for NET S.p.A., a consulting company specializing in transportation systems and infrastructures. He was then hired by Aeroporto di Bologna S.p.A, the company that operates Bologna Airport, for which he had been responsible until 2006 for the technical management of the airport infrastructures. From 2006 to 2009 he was active at SAGAT S.p.A., the managing company of Turin Airport, as Vice President Operations. In 2009, he became the Director General Operations and Accountable Manager of Air Dolomiti, the Italian subsidiary airline of Lufthansa Group, a position that he held until May 2015.
Since June 2015 Ivan is the Airport Management (Operations) Executive Vice President of Aeroporti di Roma. He is also the Accountable Manager for Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino airports.
