Brendan Sobie

Chief Analyst - CAPA Centre for Aviation

Brendan is the chief analyst and chief representative, Southeast Asia for CAPA - Centre for Aviation. He is part of CAPA’s team of senior analysts, who provide unmatched global coverage and commentary of airline industry developments and trends from bases in five cities.

Brendan specializes in analysis of emerging markets and has extensive experience covering Asia-Pacific and Latin America. He gives frequent presentations, particularly on the fast growing and highly dynamic Southeast Asian airline sector. He is also an instructor on short courses focusing on the Asian aviation market and is often quoted by the media in Asia and globally.

Brendan joined CAPA, previously known as the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, in April 2011. He is based at CAPA’s Southeast Asia office in Singapore.

Prior to joining CAPA, Brendan spent over 10 years at Flightglobal, the publisher of Flight International Magazine, Airline Business Magazine and website Flightglobal.com. During this span he was based in all three of Flightglobal’s offices – London, Singapore and Washington DC – and held various senior editorial positions.

Brendan has been covering the aviation industry for over 15 years. He’s also a private pilot, licensed in both Malaysia and the US. He has a degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University in New York.
