Carolina’s career in aviation started in 2004, when she joined IATA, working in business development, management of passenger publications and finally as cargo, ground ops and aviation security event’s management.

From 2010 she ran the IATA Secure Freight program, which successfully enhanced and trialed cargo security programs in 15 countries including Malaysia, Kenya, Mexico, Chile, Jordan, Bahrain, Brazil, Turkey and The Philippines among others.

The outreach of this capacity building program prompted her promotion to Global Director, Aviation Security and Facilitation since June 2014.  She now has oversight and advocates for all aviation security and facilitation matters on behalf of IATA’s 260 member airlines with regulators and industry partners around the world.

In this role Carolina is currently addressing the priorities drawn by IATA’s Security Group, including assisting member airlines develop and implement cyber security programs, address emerging threats and insider’s risks; contributing for a collaborative approach for security and facilitation policies with industry stakeholders and governments around the world and gaining consensus on a long-term framework for efficient, risk-based, passenger data processes. In 2015- 2016, Carolina is leading the expansion of IATA’s outreach with UNCTED, IOM, OSCE and OAS, among other organizations, to stem the flow of foreign terrorists fighters.
