Once again Passenger Terminal Expo has pulled together interesting topics at this year's event in Geneva, Switzerland, and I am excited to be presenting and leading a panel discussion about how the industry can leverage technology to meet evolving passenger demands.
It's clear that passenger and technology trends converge, but our industry needs to improve on identifying key changes and implementing them. As passengers expect greater personalization, and as they leverage social media and mobile platforms to plan, book and execute their travel experiences, industry IT capabilities will have to evolve.
For instance, airports, airlines and other service providers must have attractive, personalized, easy-to-use mobile and web applications to meet their customers' evolving purchasing habits.
At the same time, these same industry providers will have to offer human interaction "on demand," via the channel the customer wants.
Other technologies, including wearable computing, flexible screen, near field communications (NFC), and big data, will be in the mix as the industry caters to passenger expectations.
Join me on 10 April from 16:25 - 1740 hrs in Geneva as we delve deeper into these trends and how they will impact the passenger journey. If you can't make it in person, follow along on Twitter - @SITAOnline, #PTE2013.
