Air Traffic Control

Despite the current dip, air traffic movements are forecast to increase worldwide. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) recommends that air navigation service providers (ANSPs) evolve from government departments to corporatised entities, operating as ‘Performance-based Organisations’.

This transformation will enable ANSPs to access funding, better manage investments and recover costs through transparent charging mechanisms. It will also drive investments in digital communications, surveillance and navigation (CNS) technology, which in turn will deliver benefits in safety, efficiency and the environment.

SITA know-how helps ANSPs meet their business needs around the globe. We now offer National IP air traffic management networks for all operational communications integrating both voice and data. This is in addition to SITA Regional IP network services, which allow ANSPs to interconnect their national networks in lieu of legacy bilateral connections – reducing costs while improving service levels. In October 2009, SITA was elected by EUROCONTROL to deliver the Pan European Network Service (PENS).

Our Managed ADS-B Service delivery was awarded the prestigious Jane’s ATC Technology Award in March 2008 for an innovative trial deployed for the DGCA Indonesia.
