DSL Access to IP VPN
A low-cost alternative to leased line
Leverage the availability and affordability of DSL to provide the last mile access to IP VPN.
Overview
As all corporate applications become IP-enabled, broadband communications using DSL, wireless and fibre for connecting branch locations, customers, crews, technical staff, sales staff and home workers becomes critical for success.
DSL Access to IP VPN uses DSL and other local Internet access technologies to create high performance and secure access from regional and small airports, general sales agents (GSAs) and town offices, branch offices and home workers to their corporate internets. Plus, DSL Access to IP VPN allows the migration of legacy networks, including dial, X25 and P1204x ASCUs.
With no dependence on leased lines and using entry-level Cisco routers, DSL Access to IP VPN offers the lowest price point yet for IP VPN access.
Benefits
DSL Access to IP VPN allows the migration of legacy network including dial, X25 and P1204x ASCUs, replacing traffic sensitive charging with flat rate pricing and legacy with reliable, high performance IP connectivity. Key benefits of DSL Access to IP VPN include:
- Meeting budgets that cannot justify leased line connected VPN services
- Cost-effectively moving small offices to IP
- Improving productivity by enabling employees to operate as if they were on the company’s main LAN

- To migrate existing dial and legacy connected sites with uncertain monthly costs to permanent connectivity and guaranteed monthly costs
- To meet an operational budget that cannot justify leased line connected VPN services
- To offer high-speed services (greater than 256kbits) to locations requiring high bandwidth in bursts, but through a very low average throughput
- A single supplier with multi-country and regional service capability, removing the need for technical support in remote countries to install and manage services
- All traffic stays on SITA’s secure global network
- A cost-effective option to move small offices to IP
Details about features
Integrated solution with SITA IP VPN
DSL Access to IP VPN is fully integrated with IP VPN. It delivers a single, seamless VPN with any-to-any connectivity and single management view of your network and access to all the same services and applications.
Multi-country support and scalability
Although DSL coverage is not quite as extensive as IP VPN, the service is supported in 70+ countries and growing. Service and support is consistent throughout the world. DSL can be an access mechanism for much of your corporate network.
Secure solution
DSL Access to IP VPN comes with the security built in. Our solution creates a secure IPSec tunnel between the DSL site’s router and a network node, so your Internet traffic is securely encrypted without you having to manage your own IPSec devices.
High speed burst capability
Offering high speed communication for a very low price. Throughput is not guaranteed, but it offers users the look and feel of a high-speed service, as if they are working on the local LAN.
Low-cost alternative to leased line
Connection costs are 70 percent less than for leased line-based service.
Managed cost alternative dial based services
Permanent connectivity, without time or traffic-based pricing means remote sites can be permanently online, and access is not delayed due to long connection times.
Managed and maintained service
Fully managed and maintained, a central location can identify and resolve, minimizing on-site visits and increasing service availability. On-site maintenance reduces the need for the customer to be involved in fault resolution.
