Airport iTrack

Analyzing passenger flow data to measure airport performance

Airports are looking to reduce congestion and improve passenger experience. Do both with SITA's Airport iTrack.

Airport iTrack is an extension of the AirportConnect Open common-use platform that supports passenger data analysis, such as the number of passengers boarded by flight and dwell time through the airport. This helps you better understand passenger behavior and improve operational efficiency.

Overview

Airport iTrack collects bar code information as boarding passes are printed and scanned, and then writes the data to a local server and/or provisions it to a customer's data warehouse, for further analysis.

The collected data allows airports to obtain commonly requested information, including:

  • Number of passengers boarded by flight
  • Time the last passenger checked-in for a specific flight
  • Basic dwell-time analysis, such as the time passengers spend in the airport (e.g. from airport check-in to boarding)

Benefits

Airport iTrack provides the following benefits.

  • Ability to obtain the passenger boarded numbers by flight
  • Better understanding of passenger behavior (e.g. time spent in the airport, airport check-in time relative to the flight, etc.)
  • Respects data ownership and privacy

Features

When bar-coded boarding passes are printed and scanned, the fields for IATA Type M bar codes are:

  • Stored in a local SQL database for future reporting / analysis
  • Provided to the airport directly, in XML via MSMQ
  • Configurable data filter that allows each data field within the BCBP to be collected or not, thereby respecting data privacy within the airport community
