Stuttgart and Prague deploy 57 new 'green' kiosks
Stuttgart and Prague Airports have become the first airports in Europe to maximize their use of space and cater efficiently to the travelling public's desire for passenger self-service - implementing 32 and 25 Airport Connect S3 kiosks respectively.
"The introduction of their new self check-in service - via SITA's AirportConnect S3 Kiosk -logically follows earlier improvements in passenger handling," said Miroslav Dvorak, Prague Airport CEO and President of Czech Airlines.
"The S3 kiosk is also fitted with passport and document scanners to speed up collection of Advance Passenger Information and Electronic Travel Authorization Service data for visa validation where applicable," he added.
Susanne Hermann, Manager Traffic Operations, Stuttgart Airport, commented, "Ultimately we expect that 30% of our passenger throughput will be handled by the kiosks, and this innovation will help us to reduce costs and provide much more convenience to passengers. There is great appreciation of the fact that we are installing kiosks off site as well. We have placed two in the nearby Mövenpick Hotel, and we also plan to install some in the new Trade Fair Centre which is also near the airport."
Both airports have selected configurations with overhead signage, which they can use to generate direct revenue by selling ad space.
