SITA Command Centre - a single centre of excellence
Edgardo Lopez
Customer Service Management Director
Since May, SITA´s customers around the world now deal with a single centre of excellence: the SITA Command Centre in Montreal, Canada. Managing global operations of 2,700 air transport customers - this first-ever global command centre dedicated to the air transport industry, monitors and manages mission-critical systems for an industry that transports over two billion passengers each year.
The SITA Command Centre is manned 24x7 by teams of IT experts who have real-time visibility of the IT and communications systems in use at airports, airline infrastructure and aircraft operated by SITA's 2,700 customers. This real-time visibility enables us to proactively monitor and manage multiple complex systems so that issues can be mitigated before they arise, or resolved quickly and efficiently. Just about every airport or airline in the world does business with SITA, and from Montreal the operations of more than 300 airports and 2,000 airlines will be eventually supported.
The SCC is capable of supporting all of SITA´s portfolio; with current live examples such as airport check-in services; self-service web, kiosk and mobile applications; baggage management and tracking; passenger management solutions including reservations, inventory and ticketing; messaging and network operations.
In addition, SITA's AIRCOM services, which are used by more than 220 airlines worldwide for air to ground communications, will be monitored from this facility. More than 90 highly qualified staff operate SITA's Command Centre, bringing our overall personnel in Montreal to more than 220.
The 24x7 operational setup is a true multi-lingual centre of excellence, which strengthens the long-established presence that SITA has in Montreal, facilitating our relationship with IATA and ICAO at their own headquarters.
