SITA hosts high-level delegation from Indonesian Directorate General of Air Communications

In April 2008 SITA's Senior Vice President, Rene Azoulai, hosted a high level delegation from the DGAC Indonesia led by Director General Pak Budhi.

Discussions, which took place in Paris, centered around the planned transformation of air navigation service provision in Indonesia and how SITA could assist in the various initiatives planned. Pak Budhi was also congratulated on DGAC's winning of the prestigious Janes ATC Technology Award at ATC Global 2008 for its regional ADS-B trial. SITA, together with Airservices Australia and Thales ATM, supported the DGAC in deploying infrastructure for the trial, including three ADS-B receiver sites delivering data to four ATC centres in Indonesia, Australia and Singapore, as well as a display at the regional ICAO HQ in Bangkok.

CNS/ATM workshop for Airports Authority of India

SITA's CNS/ATM implementation workshop for the Airports Authority of India was inaugurated by AAI Chairman Dr K Ramalingam and attended by over 35 senior AAI executives from business areas such as Commercial, ATM Operational and Finance, including Mr P. Seth, Board Member Operations, and Mr S.C.Chhatwal, Board Member
Finance.

With annual air traffic movements in Indian airspace growing at 20%, the Government of India established a Select Committee to develop its 'Future Air Navigation System Master Plan', which was completed in early 2008. The aim of the workshop was to present SITA's capability in providing technological solutions, and to evaluate options for
implementing new CNS technologies in AAI in support of recommendations made by the Select Committee.

CAAS chooses SITA for FANS data link service

SITA's position as the communication service provider of choice in Asia Pacific was further strengthened when the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore once again selected SITA to provide its FANS data link service.

ANWS signs pre-FANS data link service agreement

Taiwan's Air Navigation and Weather Services of Civil Aeronautics Administration has contracted SITA AIRCOM deliver D-ATIS data to its client airlines for the next three years.

SITA/ICAO organize SIP seminar on DFIS

For the first time in Asia Pacific, SITA and ICAO came together to jointly organize a Special Implementation Project (SIP) seminar on the implementation of data link Flight
Information Services in the APAC region.

The three-day seminar, held from 5-7 September, took place at ICAO headquarters in Bangkok. ICAO Regional Director Mokhtar Awan presided over the opening session,
which welcomed more than 65 delegates from various states and entities, including several airlines serving the region.

Focused around technologies available for DFIS, the seminar addressed data link applications including D-VOLMET and D-ATIS, Pre-departure and Departure Clearance services and ADS-B, as well as providing a valuable networking opportunity for participants to reinforce key business relationships and exchange ideas. Experts from China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and the Republic of Korea, and airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa, shared their experiences and lessons learned.

As one participant commented, the collaboration between SITA and ICAO provided a golden opportunity for exchanging the very latest information on CNS benefits and
implementation plans between Air Navigation Service Providers, airspace users, regulators and the industry at large. SITA and ICAO thanks all speakers for their contributions and support as the Asia Pacific region continues its evolution towards implementation of the ICAO-defined CNS/ATM system.

CANSO 3rd Asia Pacific Regional ANSP Conference

SITA was delighted to have the opportunity of addressing the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation's 3rd Asia Pacific regional ANSP conference in Singapore, held from 21-23 May.

SITA's Akhil Sharma delivered a presentation on 'Europe's SESAR: Implications for Asia Pacific' which advised regional ANSPs to focus their technology improvement plans
on the specific areas identified as pre-requisites for implementing SESAR concepts and technologies.

Such areas include: implementation of integrated national IP networks for all operational voice and data communications; use of regional IP backbones for the efficient and
reliable exchange of data between States; implementation of ADS-B with a regional focus, to ensure optimal deployment of infrastructure; and implementation of CPDLC over the ICAO-defined ATN/VDLm2 infrastructure, given that this will be mandated for implementation in Europe from 2013 onwards.

SITA shares CNS technology implementation with KAC

More than 60 delegates attended the one-day annual ATC seminar in Cheong Ju, Seoul, organized by Korean Airport Corporation, the organization responsible for managing and operating 14 airports throughout the Republic of Korea.

SITA's Philip Koh was invited to share SITA's experiences in CNS technologies. SITA's presentation 'Enabling Safety, Efficiency and Environmental Benefits through CNS Technology Implementation' was well received by the audience.
