New weight and balance solution drives load planning

CHAMP Cargosystems has announced that Cargolux as the launch customer for the first ever graphical weight and balance solution specifically designed for the air freight sector. The new system has already demonstrated the ability to halve Cargolux's load sheet preparation time.

A first for freight

The graphical interface and 'drag and drop' functionality, though commonly used for passenger loading, has never before been provided to meet the unique requirements of freight handlers.

By enabling load controllers to manage the sorting of ULDs using colour-coded differentials based on contour, weight, destination and type, average load planning time can be significantly cut. Throughout testing this has delivered up to 55 percent reduction in load sheet preparation time.

CHAMP's solution is designed to be flexible and fully integrated with existing operations and procedures. Working with standard IATA messaging, it can produce Loading Instruction/Report Forms (LIRFs) and loadsheets in either graphical or IATA formats.

Both IATA and individual Operators' business rules are easily built into the application. Also, any type of aircraft including Boeing, Airbus, McDonnell Douglas or even military aircraft such as Hercules, with any type of specification, can easily be added and aircraft pallet position configurations changed with a click of a button.
