Advocate Lance Brogden is a law graduate (LLB) from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he also obtained an MBA degree, graduating as South African MBA Graduate of the Year in 1991. His specific areas of expertise are Company Turnarounds, Corporate and IT Governance, Business Leadership, Strategic Planning and Business Re-modelling with his primary sector focus being Aviation, Transport, Government, Travel and Tourism.
Lance has a technical understanding and in-depth knowledge of the aviation industry in areas of aviation business models, operations and solutions.
As IATA's Regional Vice President Africa, he oversees all of IATA's initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa in a broad portfolio that includes Member and Government Relations for 47 African countries, safety, security, simplifying the business, environment as well as managing IATA's Industry Distribution and Financial Systems (IDFS) that process US$ 3 billion annually in Africa.
Prior to taking up the RVP position in IATA, Lance was the Chief Executive Officer of Air Botswana, where he completed a successful operational and financial turnaround of the organization within 3 years. In earlier years, he was the Chief Executive Officer of International Strategic Solutions (Pty) Ltd as well having been a Director of AVIS Rent-a-Car and held senior strategy consulting positions in Arthur Andersen as well as Coopers & Lybrand in the early 1990s.
Lance started his aviation career as an Officer in the South African Air Force in the 1980s.
