SITA helps the ATI meet new environmental requirements

While the ATI continues to face a challenging business environment, new environmental regulations and reporting requirements are also having a significant impact on business practices.

In October 2009, SITA announced that 12 airline members of the Arab Air Carriers Organization will be the first to deploy SITA's Aircraft Emissions Manager, the world's only monitoring, reporting and verification software tool specially designed to accurately measure carbon emissions and fuel burn in tonne-kilometres as mandated by new EU requirements.

SITA has a comprehensive Environment Programme to help the ATI:

  • Implement services to support environmental regulations
  • Increase operational improvement by exploiting Information Technology
  • Answer carbon footprint and offset requirements

Celebrating Anniversaries

Aeroflot celebrates 50 years with SITA

At a special 50th anniversary membership workshop for Aeroflot last June, SITA was proud to mark the occasion by presenting a commemorative plaque to the company's CIO, Sergey Kirushin. Since 1959, Aeroflot has collaborated closely with SITA to pioneer modern technologies and air transport industry processes - both in Russia and more widely in CIS. Most notably, Aeroflot helped drive the deployment of Flight Briefing, SITA Departure Control Services and AIRCOM services.

On 28th April 1979, Air Berlin welcomed 178 passengers on board its Boeing707 for its first flight, with the destination of Palma de Mallorca. Today the company is the second largest airline in Germany, transporting more than 28 million passengers in 2008. It also has one of the youngest fleets in Europe with 125 aircraft.
