SITA Membership delivers a strong and lasting financial value, particularly through minimizing the costs of network services. Our principle of long-term investment in shared infrastructure continues to help you:

  • Minimize industry costs
  • Save unnecessary duplication of resources
  • Enhance efficiency

SITA Membership ensures a long-term view, rather than a focus on short-term shareholder return. Our mandate is to deliver best value to our Members.

Shareholder benefits

As shareholders, SITA Members actively participate in:

  • The SITA Council
  • SITA Annual General Assembly (AGA)
  • SITA Regional Council groupings
  • Other SITA advisory groups and committees

Members are allocated shares, based on their annual usage of SITA services (network and applications) - i.e., Members are SITA shareholders.

Member shares then determine Council seats.

Twenty seats go to SITA's largest member shareholders. Ten seats are reserved for regional groupings, and four seats are reserved for industry-specific groups, e.g. airports (subject to a minimum 75 collective shareholding and minimum three Members).

Non-member customers, regardless of the size of their business with SITA, are not eligible for a SITA Council seat.

SITA Members play an active role in SITA's governance and influence our evolution. Either at the Council level and/or through the SITA Customer Advisory Board, Members influence:

  • SITA business
  • SITA portfolio and service strategy

The SITA Council

The SITA Council is one of the most representative bodies for air transport in the world. Its members represent over 90% of the total airline business worldwide. Twenty Council seats are determined annually by the number of shares held by members, as allocated per their usage of SITA services.
