Dresden becomes first eastern German airport to introduce CUSS kiosks

Date: 22 April 2009
Location: Geneva

Common-Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks are being introduced at Dresden Airport, by SITA, the specialist airline IT provider.

The kiosks will be available for check-in to passengers travelling from Dresden on the three largest German airlines, Lufthansa, Air Berlin and German Wings. Some two million people use the airport annually and the kiosks will lead to significant reductions in queuing time for passengers. The only other German cities where kiosks are currently available for multi-airline rather than single airline use are Frankfurt and Munich.

Dresden is home to Europe's biggest microelectronics centre and the 800 year old city is fondly known as the Florence on the Elbe. Since German reunification some Euros 500 million has been invested in the airport.
