Dr. Amin Khan is the Senior General Manager of Malaysia Airlines.
He is in charge of Network, Revenue Management and Distribution. His focus is to grow the network, enhance its revenue management capabilities and transform the distribution. He has held the portfolio of Program Director for the new passenger services system (PSS) and is now the business owner of the new SITA reservations system as well as the ecommerce suite. The new reservations system will migrate MAS to the new SITA Horizon platform in providing the business tools for the thrust "Flying to Win". The ecommerce development especially in mobile technology will bring together the best of breed in terms of technology, business processes and change management for the airline.
Dr. Amin is also a board member of MASwings, the subsidiary that he set up to develop connectivity, bringing the world to Malaysia's rich heritage states of Sabah and Sarawak. He has been a key driver in the airline's domestic rationalization program that facilitated the birth of 2 national champions in Malaysia's national aviation policy in 2006, and the revival of the rural air services in 2007.
Dr. Amin is an aircraft engineer by profession. He holds a PhD in Management and a MBA from Cranfield University, England. In addition, he is a GE certified Six Sigma black belt holder. He continues to mentor and sponsor the six sigma programs to improve cost effectiveness and productivity.
He has many years of airline experience and has in fact covered the whole spectrum from planning to operations. He has been in engineering, internal audit, network planning, and revenue management. Dr. Amin had also been the Regional Manager for the China region, driving the sales distribution and marketing strategies in the field.
As a past-time, Dr. Amin used to engage in lecturing and coaching students pursuing MBA programs in the universities.
