Back to SITA ATI Messaging Journal Q1 2009
Debate
The world of ATI messaging continues to experience long-term growth, as both more and bigger messages are exchanged between stakeholders - driven by trends such as the disappearance of paper tickets, the arrival of Bar-Coded Boarding Passes (BCBPs), the increasing demands of regulatory authorities for advance passenger information, and ever-greater cockpit data communications.
We are therefore very keen - within the pages of this Messaging Journal, as well as in broader forums - to stimulate debate, get the user community involved and solicit feedback.
In each edition of this Journal, therefore, we intend to take a particular messaging issue and debate it in more detail - understanding that the issues are not black and white and that there is rarely an answer that would be 'right' for all stakeholders.
We feel that it's important to be transparent and open in our discussions about messaging. Too often, messaging uses are taken for granted and forgotten, but like an unmanaged garden, they will eventually become tangled and too complex to resolve. The challenges must not be hidden away, but addressed in a spirit of clarity, for the benefit of the whole messaging community.
We look forward to collaborating with you and to polling the industry to seek out the issues which concern, interest and preoccupy the community - and we look forward to any suggestions you may have for future subjects for the 'Debate' section of the Journal.
