CHAMP joins Cargo 2000
CHAMP has joined Cargo 2000 (C2K), IATA's initiative to drive best practice and service quality for air cargo management and delivery to agreed standards between customers' and their suppliers.
This fundamental requirement has provided the industry quality benchmarks that are increasingly applied by carriers, freight forwarders, ground handlers and truckers.
The C2K programme is integral to IATA's air cargo business transformation, which also includes e-freight, security and customs. While these are separate streams of activity in their own right, they are inextricably linked.
James Fernandez, CHAMP VP Sales & Marketing, commented: "We are witnessing a surge of interest in C2K standards - in particular how innovative IT solutions can help both carriers and their GHA partners achieve higher levels of predictable efficiency and measurable service delivery. These can be key differentiators between competing organizations".
A significant proportion of the C2K carriers use CHAMP solutions for the management of their cargo, as do three of the largest C2K general handling agents.
The past decade has seen a transformation of the air cargo industry, and delivering services cost effectively and to plan will be a vital ingredient to success in the future. The next 10 years will see new and perceptively different challenges in which organizations will have to set themselves apart from the competition, levering support from a network of partnerships and relationships.
