Business intelligence in the palm of your hand

The iPad is today's ultimate 'all-purpose' device. By that, I mean, it is a device that has meaning and purpose for just about everybody: from toddlers (my three-year-old son uses it to play educational games) to teenagers (playing action-packed video games) to business users (filling out forms at doctor's offices). Indeed, the iPad's uses are as broad and various as its users.
It's no different for the air transport industry, itself a broad and varying environment. Like any other industry, air transport goes through its ups and downs. But it is a foregone conclusion that air travel will continue to expand and grow over the next 10 years. In fact, by 2020, there will be roughly seven billion air passengers - that's equivalent to the total population on earth right now.
With so much growth, SITA's customers are constantly seeking new solutions to enhance their passengers' travel experience - especially when they arrive at the airport. SITA Airport Solution Line, in conjunction with SITA's research and development arm - SITA Lab - has created a mobile Business Intelligence (BI) Dashboard to help our customers predict their passenger flow in order to plan their resources accordingly.
By leveraging the iPad and other mobile devices, the BI Dashboard converges business analytics with mobility to help airport stakeholders improve operations in real-time. It can assist with everything from flight cancellations and delays to check-in and security lines. There are many other use cases for the BI Dashboard, but without stealing the thunder of the video, I'll stop here and allow you to press 'Play'.

Hi Ron – nice video. I like the overview and KPI Tracking in this App, is it live as yet?
I have been working on a number of Mobile App on the SMS side for Aviation and as a result I have carried out a presentation at the 5th Annual Flight Operations Conference at Heathrow in December 2010.
If your readers are interested in the trends in the mobile market and whats happening in the mobile space in Airports they can get to the presentation through this Link
Hope it helps.

Hi Jim,
The app is not live yet…proof of concept at this time. We plan to develop the app this year (2012). I just viewed your presentation and found it to be very interesting. Would be great to discuss Gael’s activity in this area. My e-mail is listed below.
