Benefits of Membership

"SITA focuses on shared services, and services provided on a not-for-profit basis, with an emphasis on unit cost reductions for the benefit of the whole community. SITA offers services to airlines and airports almost everywhere in the world. No other provider does this."

Paul Coby, SITA Chair

Community driven

SITA is the only global provider of IT business solutions and communications services for the air transport industry - owned entirely by its Members. Our mandate is to deliver consistent economic value to our customers.

In 2010, SITA returned US$ 60m in pricing reductions, along with US$ 17.5m in over-recovery.

SITA Membership delivers a strong and lasting financial value, particularly through minimizing the costs of network services. Our principle of long-term investment in shared infrastructure continues to help you:

  • Minimize industry costs
  • Save unnecessary duplication of resources
  • Enhance efficiency

SITA Membership ensures a long-term view, rather than a focus on short-term shareholder return. Our mandate is to deliver best value to our Members.

Knowledge sharing

With SITA Membership, you receive:

  • Collaborative developments and innovations
  • Networking opportunities through focused industry forums
  • Access to IT benchmarks and trends

SITA runs more than 16 active user groups and forums. We sponsor and run regional member events - combined regional Board representative meetings and SITA customer events.

Participation

SITA members play an active role in SITA's governance and influence our evolution. As shareholders, members can participate in:

  • The SITA Council
  • SITA Annual General Assembly (AGA)
  • SITA Regional Council groupings
  • Other SITA advisory groups and forums such as the Customer Advisory Board (CAB)

The SITA Council

The SITA Council is one of the most representative bodies for air transport in the world. Its members represent over 90% of the total airline business worldwide. Twenty Council seats are determined annually by the number of shares held by members, as allocated per their usage of SITA services.
