Future aircraft management
By leveraging the benefits of a fully digital operating environment – both on the ground and in-flight – next generation aircraft bring a whole range of new opportunities for simplifying operational processes and improving maintenance and engineering.
The key challenge, in terms of aircraft management, will be how to successfully manage the explosion of data and the ubiquity of communications technology which come with fully-digital aircraft.
To meet this challenge head-on, and help the ATI achieve its objectives in flying, operating, maintaining and managing next generation aircraft, SITA launched its Aircraft Management Innovation Programme in Q4 2007.
As a result of our ongoing market research and the results of interviews undertaken with industry experts, we are now leveraging key SITA programmes to develop building blocks to complement existing products and industrialize existing capabilities and customer-specific solutions.
During 2009 we will continue developing our capabilities in aerospace and MRO, and conducting trials and beta tests on the following aircraft management solutions
- Secure Gatelink infrastructure complemented by a wireless aggregator programme
- A new IT ‘Readiness Assessment’ service
- Customization of PKI services for new aircraft types
- RFID pilot architecture for spares’ tracking with a global registry
- Mobile workforce applications & localization services
