Following the success of previous Summits, registration is now open for the 5th Aviation & Environment Summit that will take place from Thursday 16 to Friday 17 September in Geneva, Switzerland. There is a list of impressive speakers and panelists who will be taking part this year. The full programme for the Summit is available from the event site. In addition, you can download the Summit information brochure from here.

This will be another important year for aviation from an environmental perspective with climate change at the top of the political agenda. The inconclusive outcomes of the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Copenhagen has left a policy vacuum on aviation. 2010 will therefore be a pivotal year for both international climate change negotiations and aviation, with COP16 taking place in CancĂșn at the end of the year, preceded by the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) 37th Assembly in Montreal. This Summit has been deliberately timed to ensure that the aviation industry is engaged and focused on the key challenges within the political context in advance of these two important events.
