In December our Beirut office organized a food and clothing collection and donation campaign in cooperation with the Red Cross. The result was 20 boxes of groceries and other basics packaged for distribution to poor families in Lebanon during the festive period. A number of our Beirut staff then took volunteer time out to deliver the care packages in person. A big thank you to all our team in Beirut for their generous contributions.
In October our Beirut office held a blood drive and donation awareness session with the help of local NGO, Donner Sang Compter (DSC). It was a great opportunity learn more about providing this vital service to the Lebanese community. Around 10 of the 30 SITA staff attendees took the opportunity to make a donation.
In December a team of volunteers from our Dubai office spent a day visiting and interacting with the children and young adults at the Al Noor Training Centre , participating in a range of communications, sports and music activities. The center also offers a number of vocational initiatives that allow the young people to develop real world skills. These include a t-shirt printing facility, a carpentry workshop and a bakery. As a thank you for the day, the children and staff at the Al Noor Bakery baked a batch of cookies especially for SITA which were given away at our office canteen.
In an inspiring example of direct sponsorship, staff from our Amman office visited the Talbieh camp in Zizia in late November. They brought with them a delivery of heaters, blankets, and food supplies for three local families in difficult circumstances.
